McKenna Endorsed by Small Business Association | Rob McKenna ...

Attorney General Rob McKenna today invited media to cover a presentation on the urgent need for state regulatory reform he made with the help of small business owners and State Auditor Brian Sonntag. McKenna?s commitment to providing tax reform and regulatory relief to struggling small businesses earned him the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB).

?I am honored to receive the support of the state?s most focused advocate for small business,? said McKenna. ?Washington?s small business owners and employees work hard, not only to stay competitive in their market but also to overcome the regulatory and tax burdens placed on them by state government.

?It?s time they had a Governor who understands that struggle and will work to make it easier for them to succeed,? concluded McKenna. ?I will do that.?

The press event was hosted by NFIB member business O?Blarney?s Irish Pub in Olympia. Owner Shawn Heelan, took the time to step away from the lunch rush to speak to reporters about her confidence in McKenna?s plan to help small businesses across the state.

"Washington needs a leader with a real plan to lower the hurdles that prevent businesses from reaching their full potential," said Heelan. "Rob has spent the last year tirelessly reaching out to small business owners like myself, and he understands the challenges we face. His New Direction for Washington best ensures continued job growth and a thriving state economy."

Many of the proposals McKenna discussed were inspired by the policy roundtables he conducted earlier this year with over 400 small business owners and managers. These ideas were further validated by the work of State Auditor Sonntag, whose office recently released a report which highlighted the ways in which state government can increase efficiency and improve its interaction with small businesses.

?Yes, there are several measures that Rob can take, as governor, to lighten the state government burden on small businesses,? said Sonntag. ?We?ve talked about them at length and he has a thorough understanding of the State-imposed challenges that small businesses face. His commitment to making it more affordable for small businesses to grow and hire is unmatched.?
