Morgan County and Cullman County agents make drug bust at Union Grove home

UNION GROVE, Alabama -- A Marshall County man was arrested on drug possession charges on Thursday, according to a release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

The release states that agents with both the Morgan County Drug Task Force and Cullman County Drug Task Force went to a residence in the 100 block of Helms Road in Union Grove to arrest Keith Anthony Shaddix, 21, who had two arrests warrants for unlawful marijuana distribution from Cullman County. He was currently out on bail for an unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance charge from September 2011.

Shaddix was not home but his mother the agents in. Once inside, they detected a strong marijuana odor and saw drug paraphernalia. Shaddix arrived home shortly and was arrested on the outstanding warrants.

Agents secured a search warrant after Shaddix said there was marijuana in the home They found approximately two pounds of hydroponic marijuana plus drug sale paraphernalia. They alsoi discovered hypodermic syringes, a small amount of methamphetamine and a loaded .357 magnum revolver. The street value of the marijuana was estimated to be near $13,000, according to the release.

Shaddix was arrested for first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of meth in addition to the two Cullman County warrants. He was transported to the Morgan County Jail and booked with a $410,000 bond.
